Why now? Because new generations need to hear about heroes who thrived, against very discouraging odds. Not only will you help us launch a long lost piece of post romantic music history, you'll help us place this unsung hero on the stage of music legends where Afro Cubans are too often erased.
WHAT'S NEXT: FUNDING — Currently we are raising funds to continue filming, create animated segments and edit.
COMPLETED: We filmed the sold out performance of Estudio Sinfónico by José Manuel "Lico" Jiménez Berroa, that was performed for the first time in history outside of Cuba with The Florida Chamber Orchestra on October 8th, 2023 at the Miami Dade Auditorium, conducted by Marlene Urbay. We filmed the professional recording of Lico's CANCIONES and piano concerto at Estudio Mans in A Coruña, Spain. The record will debut in Madrid on April 19th at SGAE. All of Lico's living relatives in Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Paris, Tours, Bretagne, Miami, Los Angeles, Oakland, New York, Ibiza, Bayreuth, Leipzig and Hamburg have been interviewed on film. These living descendants are the holders of Lico's oral history but more importantly, we watch them discover the stunning consistency of musicianship, artistic discipline and perseverance running through the veins of eight generations who themselves have survived exile, racism, epidemics and wars.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: A small donation will go a long way to helping us meet our goal for LICO JIMÉNEZ, THE EBONY LISZT documentary film. We plan to complete filming in the SUMMER 2024 and begin our editing and our wide distribution phase in 2025. Please contact us if you have questions about our budget, strategic or equity partnerships or if you would like to be included among our CIRCLE OF PHILANTHROPISTS with on screen credit for making a large donation. We would be honored to include you.
Deeply grateful,
